Tana River County Government and the Ministry of Lands, Housing, Public Works, and Urban Development have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the Affordable Housing Program. Governor Maj Dhado Godhana, who signed the agreement, expressed that this housing initiative is a significant step in addressing housing challenges within the county. He pledged the commitment of his administration to ensure the success of the project.

Governor Godhana stated, "The prospect of an affordable housing initiative in Tana River County holds a promise of a brighter future for our people." He indicated that the detailed plan and proposal presented by the delegation from the national ministry convinced him of the project's feasibility and its potential to enhance the overall quality of life for residents of Tana River.

Emphasising the potential impact of the project, the governor called for strong collaboration and commitment to realizing the agreement. He envisioned that the successful completion of the housing project would positively affect other critical areas such as healthcare, food security, and education. Governor Godhana stressed, "A home for everyone is a key pillar in building a stronger and more inclusive community."

The Affordable Housing Project aligns with President William Ruto's ambitious plan to construct 200,000 homes annually for low-income earners and residents of slums and informal settlements.
